Low noise and emission compliancy are the two principal reasons why one of the UK’s the leading tanker manufacturer, RTN Clayton Vallely, has selected the Hatz 4H50TIC canopy version engine for their new RCV Ultra Last 30,000 litre stainless vacuum trailer.
The Hatz 4H50TIC canopy version engine is a 4-cyliner diesel engine fully canopied and silenced in a powder-coated weather proof canopy. The engine is completely compliant with the stringent emissions regulations both in the UK and in the USA. The unique feature of this engine is that compliance is achieved without the use of a diesel particulate filter.
RTN Clayton Vallely selected this engine to provide the power to their new RCV Ultra Last 30,000 litre stainless vacuum trailer, driving the built-in Jurop RV520 vacuum pump. The RCV Ultra Last is a 30,000 litre capacity vacuum trailer manufactured from 304 or 316 stainless steel. The design has incorporated a top hat ring section which maximises construction strength whilst allowing the use of thinner material. The tanker maintains maximum payload, however, the use of stainless steel means the tanker can also be used for carrying non-hazardous materials. In addition, manufacturing from stainless steel will help to increase the overall lifespan of the tanker.
Keith Lemm RTN Clayton Vallely’s General Manager said, “Aside from the low noise and emission levels, the Hatz engine excels in several other ways, principally in the ease of fitment, requiring minimal work needed by our engineers to the complete the installation.”
Mr. Lemm continued, “Service by Hatz GB is always to a high standard, we had very good support from the start of the project to the finish with any issues dealt with fast and efficiently.”
RTN Clayton Vallely began as Road Tankers Northern (RTN) in 1991 and by 1993 RTN was building over 80 new road tankers a year quickly establishing itself as a respected name within the oil industry. RTN purchased Vallely Tankers in 2007 and Clayton Commercials in 2013. With these acquisitions, RTN became the UK’s No1 road tanker manufacturer with products that encompass all sectors of the market. This expansion and their willingness to lead the industry in tanker design and production has seen RTN become a multiple winner of the coveted Tanker Builder of the Year award.
Hatz diesel engines have been around since 1910. From their manufacturing base situated at Ruhstorf, Germany, Hatz produce a range of modern diesel engines from 3 to 55 kW. Their UK subsidiary, Hatz GB Limited, has its facilities centrally located in Hinckley, Leicestershire,
