Plant machinery traced via drone technology

A stolen excavator has been recovered in East Bilney near Norwich with the assistance of drone technology; an ongoing success for AMI Group.

After theft and asset management specialist’s AMI Group have successfully recovered a Kubota U10 mini excavator. It was initially traced via highly accurate GPS locating from the AT5 tracker installed to the Asset. The AT5’s discreet size and unique reporting cycle ensured thieves did not detect the unit when they attempted to locate a tracker.

A visual of the Kubota was necessary to gain access to the site the stolen asset had be stored in; to be in line with current legal permissions.

Therefore the drone was deployed to pinpoint the assets position; from 300ft in the air a live stream was broadcast to a screen below. This allowed for confirmation of the assets presence and therefore the authorities could warranty entrance to the site; allowing for a successful recovery.
